This is the true story of how he came through crisis, triumphed over an illness that almost destroyed him and learned to live again. A moving, funny and joyous exploration of how to live better, love better and feel more alive, Reasons to Stay Alive is more than a memoir. It is a book about making the most of your time on earth. Time heals. The bottom of the valley never provides the clearest view. The tunnel does have light at the end of it, even if we haven't been able to see it. Words, just sometimes, really can set you free. Two Steps Forward. Graeme Simsion.

There is only upwards from here. You hate yourself. That is because you are sensitive. Pretty much every human could find a reason to hate themselves if they thought about it as much as you did.

So what, you have a label? Everyone would have a label if they asked the right professional. That feeling you have, that everything is going to get worse, that is just a symptom. Minds have their own weather systems. You are in a hurricane. Hurricanes run out of energy eventually.

Hold on. Ignore stigma. Every illness had stigma once. Stigma is what happens when ignorance meets realities that need an open mind. Nothing lasts forever. The pain tells you it will last.

Pain lies. Ignore it. More dark than light. But the light makes it worthwhile. Even when the darkness is total. Always know that life is not still. Time is space. You are moving through that galaxy.

Yes No Thanks for your feedback! Report as inappropriate. This book changed my life. I said it. Something I've never said in a review before. But as someone who battles anxiety and who is very close to a number of people who face depression and anxiety, it has helped me understand not only their issues better, but also to understand my own issues too.

And Matt Haig writes with such intelligence and humour that you forget you're reading self-help - it feels like you're just reading TRUTH. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
