I read it at the time when I was asking myself questions regarding 'What to do with my life? I found the book very energizing, giving me a lot of inspiration and motivation to go on and many answers to my questions.
When I read the book the second time, it didn't seem to have the same effect. Who is looking for great literary value, will be disappointed. Outing myself as a reader of self-improvement books with this review, but so what I think it's all a bit of a waste of time if you don't try to spend some of your time improving your life from within. My problem with fables is that they are, more often than not, stupid. They come across as a child Outing myself as a reader of self-improvement books with this review, but so what They come across as a childish and often condescending way to get a point across when straight forward non-fiction would've done the job.
They also tend to be written by people who, while extremely wise and with something very worthwhile and interesting to say, have no flair for writing fiction, and the whole thing just ends up being clunky, cheesy and unreadable, a faint burn of embarrassment for the author coming to your cheeks as you read.
I've just described the first chapters of this book, but please: I'm so glad I did. There's so many great insights in this book, and endless quotations for you to highlight or stick somewhere prominent.
Of course, a lot of it is common sense, but what do you expect? The answer to the meaning of life? Although Sharma actually has an answer for that: And it introduced me to a Carl Jung quotation that's now one of my favourites: Just grit your teeth and push through those first few chapters. One successful lawyer commence a journey through to unknow. It explained in the book his discipline that he learnt from India.
I think the book is very good, useful and flashing regarding the self-improvment. Also there are 10 good discipline in the book that it demonstrates secret of endless happiness. For sure it will be difficult to apply all of them in the lifestyle but how much you can do, do it.
Just one point I noticed that I think there is a conflict between live the moment like you will One successful lawyer commence a journey through to unknow. Just one point I noticed that I think there is a conflict between live the moment like you will be die tomorrow and time management.
I recommended this book. One good section, "Merely searcher find" A really impressive book about self-helping and reaching your destiny, Robin S.
Sharma had a look at Kaizen that refers to continuously improve and boost productivity. I appreciate this book and courage my friends to read it even for once. Read this book if you want to add a new dimension to your life.
It is the first spiritual book I read. Now I realize that regardless of your religion, these books contain vital knowledge and information that you might encounter for the first time in your life. One topic which was innovative and influential is the inner spiritual serenity, self-knowledge and self-control. I always had a glimpse of it Read this book if you want to add a new dimension to your life.
I always had a glimpse of it but never thought it was indulged in such books. No matter what life or what personality are you, no matter what a state are you in, this book will open up a new dimension to regularly use in our lives, a new dimension that fits all your worries, troubles, ambitions, dreams and most important your inner being.
No need to add it to your reading list, just grab it and start reading. These words of wisdom are clustered in a matter of pages. Give it a try and join me in this new dimension. Sharma is indeed interesting on how he presents spiritual teachings in a novel form. At some points it seems repetitive and maybe so simple, but everything is placed in a good sequence and it is well paced.
A spiritual journey of a hot-shot lawyer who owns a 'fabolous' life and a ferrari, and eventually turns himself to become a monk and live a truly enlightened life. He shares his amazing experience and new wisdom that he has gained to his former colleague.
These wisdoms are shared throughout the entire book. Most of them are really inspirational to live a life full of purpose. Sharma is compelling: There he searches for a mysterious group of sages high up in the Himalayas to lived with them and acquire their ageless wisdom.
This storyline functions as a catalyst for spiritual subjects, a nice cocktail of Buddhism, positive thinking, inspiring sayings, and interesting statistics.
All the spiritual basics are there, the content is well rounded and the reader is enticed to apply the wisdom at once. I was slightly disappointed by the quality of the storyline: Having said that, the book was written fifteen years ago and the allegories may not have been overused at that time. Also, the author sometimes mixed the sources of wisdom. The book is an excellent example of SEO optimized writing.
The title itself factually incorrect is a little gem of marketing strategy. It combines hot trends at the time the book was written: The core allegory of the book is priceless too: After what seemed like an eternity, he finally regained consciousness when the marvelous fragrance of the yellow roses reached his nose.
He then jumped to his feet in delight and was astonished to see a long, winding path studded with millions of tiny diamonds. Of course, our friend the sumo wrestler took the path and, in doing so, lived happily ever after.
Read this book once. That's enough inspiration for a lifetime. Cos we all are so alike the one who was in the book with the 'ferrari'.
