The traditional image of an encyclopedia as a large, heavy volume only occasionally taken down from a dusty shelf is blown out of the water by this new range of mini-encyclopedias. These are comprehensive, concentrated packages of up-to-date practical guidance on a variety of fishkeeping and water gardening themes.
The core text is amplified and extended by panels, captions and annotations that accompany the photographs and graphic illustrations. The first part of each volume consists of a hands-on practical section that follows the step-by-step progress of a specific project. Accompanying text includes technical advice on the equipment required to complete each stage of the project.
The second part features a wide range of species or varieties relevant to the subject. These profile sections are profusely illustrated with stunning colour photographs and are designed to inspire readers to expand their collections. By combining practical and reference sections, these mini encyclopedias represent the ideal compromise in a world where shelf space is limited but the thirst for knowledge increases every day.
Book Details Author: Arnold Schwarzenegger Pages: Health, Nutrition, and Diet. Now it's time to hit the gym and put the book to good use!!! FYI you can read the table of contents on site or google books for more information! I took this book with me overseas while Deployed in Afghanistan. It was great to read about the basics, and understand what makes the body grow. Till this day I still read the book, and look to it for guidance.
When hitting a wall, hitting a plateau, healing an injury, or just overall motivation; I read this book. Its a must read for men or woman who take pride in their body.
Kindle Edition Verified download. I loved this book.
Arnold's enthusiasm for bodybuilding is infectious and it is full of so many great anecdotes about his personal experiences while competing in the field. Filled with great pictures of how to do each exercise and has some very excellent sample workout schedules that I've followed and gotten great results with in the just the few months that I've been following them.
Just leafing through this book makes you want to go out and lift more! My only criticism is that he only has a single, very short chapter dedicated female competitive bodybuilders. And unlike the gobs and gobs of photos of huge male bodybuilders interspersed throughout the book, he doesn't even include any photos of these women!
Come on, Arnold! I see tons of women at the gym, some very serious about weightlifting, and by not making them feel included in this book, you're probably missing out on many potential downloadrs of this book.
Very good book about weight lifting, body building and nutrition. Probably 20 years I had it in a hard copy but lost it somewhere. This time I bought and read the kindle version. I realized that a lot of the pictures of different exercises were missing. So I downloaded a copy of it on my computer and ipad and all the pictures were back again. Not sure why some were missing when read directly on my kindle. Kinda annoying if someone didnt know to try and read it on a different device.
I used to lift when I was younger, I always enjoyed it, and wanted to start again. I felt like I needed information about, well, everything, from nutrition to basic lifting exercises. This book has it all. Very informative for beginners to the experienced competing bodybuilder. Well illustrated with pictures and drawings.
I like that it's not an Arnold autobiography, of course he includes personal stories, but they are all related to bodybuidling. He's not all "Me me me" there are plenty of examples and praise for other competitors. I also like his attitude that "muscles are muscles, it doesn't matter if they are on a a male or female.
And let's be honest, whether you like Schwarzenegger or not, he clearly knows - and is passionate about - this subject. I highly recommend this book.

If he ever looked taller in a movie, it was thanks to footwear enhancements. More pics of our friends, Sven and Arnie Click Here , Click Here Maybe 6'4. Click Here Same guy and max 6'8" Kevin Nash Click Here Sven and Ralf Moeller 6'5.
Click Here People are obviously going to think Arnie was taller when they think Sven was 6'5" peak Google still lists these guys as 6'5" which is a complete joke. Next to Chet Yorton listed 5"11' both barefoot Arnold looks only one hair taller than him. He might be 6"1. I have been face to face with Arnold on three occasions in the past five years and he's taller than me at 5' Heavy weight training is not a reason.
Height loss is more genetics and injuries. I guess he lost 2 inches from a weak 6'1 to almost 5'11 these days.
And maybe it's genetic? Some people do lose a lot more than others after all. But I don't think we can say he lost height because he used heavy weights - he ended his competitive career in his mid 20s after all.
Studies indicate a lot of benefits of weightlifting: Adding strength training into your workout routine plan is great to control bone loss.
It improves bone density. I guess as a professional bodybuilder he might be training very frequently and more into a hypertrophy workout and not into a a strenght routine which is better for bones because you also train less and not so frequentely so bones ligaments and tendons don't damage they get even stronger having more time to recover and get stronger.
I mean a strenght program is better because is like: Train smarter. Train less. For example doing heavy squats 2 times per week but just 2 sets each day since a young age won't make you loose height and It will be amazing for your bones and knees making you so strong with a correct posture.
When you are you have to be smart and train smarter: Train less and shortly like 30 min workouts 3 times a week.
You can train heavy with a correct technique an doing this you will recover perfectly. Arnold as all bodybuilders train at least times per week and more into a hypertrophy program where you have to do a lot of exercises per muscle and sets and doing this all his life can't be ideal or good for bones.
I recommend to train heavy till your 40's 50's and then just chill and do more cardio programs.
